It also means that when we say a duct can be improved, we mean it specifically rather than generally. The question is always whether a shorter route to an exterior wall exists from where the machine currently stands, and in an added-on laundry the answer is often yes, because the original installer took the route that needed the least work rather than the route that performed best.

When the Duct Genuinely Cannot Be Fixed

Occasionally it cannot. A dryer in the middle of a converted space with no reachable exterior wall, or a run that would have to cross a room, is a real situation here, and the honest answer in that case is not a better duct.

It is a ventless machine. There are two kinds and they work differently from a vented dryer.

A condenser dryer cools the moist air inside the appliance so the water condenses out and drains away or collects in a tank, then reheats the same air. Nothing is exhausted, so no duct is needed. It runs longer than a vented dryer and it puts some heat into the room, which in a Florida laundry is worth knowing about.
