The fan running after you switch off is normal. Induction generates its heat in the pan, but the electronics under the glass get hot doing it, and they are cooled by a fan that keeps running until they have come down. A cooktop whose fan runs for several minutes after cooking is behaving exactly as designed.

Which means ventilation is a real requirement. That fan draws air through vents, usually underneath or at the back, and if a drawer packed full sits directly beneath the hob, or the underside is boxed in, the electronics run hot and the cooktop protects itself by reducing power or shutting down. A zone that cuts out during a long simmer, with no error, is very often this rather than a fault.

Pans decide half the complaints. Induction only heats ferrous cookware. A pan a magnet will not stick to does not work, a warped base makes poor contact and heats unevenly, and a pan much smaller than the zone may not be detected at all. Before anything else, test the pan with a magnet.

Cracks are the expensive one. The glass is the appliance’s structural surface as well as its cooking surface, and a dropped pan corner can finish it.
