Neighborville repairs ice makers across Miramar, FL, covering ZIP codes 33025, 33027, 33029 and 33023. In-freezer modules, in-door systems, undercounter and standalone machines. The $99 diagnostic fee is waived when you approve the repair. Ice work is booked inside our refrigeration category, which is 6 of our 15 completed Miramar jobs, with three repairs at $195, $315 and $386 against a regional refrigeration median of $375. Three is well under our threshold for a local median, so those are the jobs. An ice maker runs five distinct stages, and almost every complaint names one of them. Call (561) 821-9082.
- Diagnostic: $99, applied to the repair when you approve it.
- Local base: 3 Miramar refrigeration repairs, at $195, $315 and $386.
- South Florida service area: $375 across 141 refrigeration repairs, middle half $255 to $453.
- Local share: refrigeration is 40 percent of Miramar calls against 36.5 percent company-wide.
- The five stages: fill, freeze, harvest, eject, and the arm that says stop.
- Normal production: most household modules make a batch every hour and a half to two hours.
- After a restart: give it a full day before judging it, because ice makers are slow to catch up.
- Brands: Whirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE, KitchenAid, Frigidaire, Maytag, Sub-Zero, Scotsman, U-Line.
Five Stages, and Your Symptom Names the One That Failed
An ice maker is a small machine with a fixed routine, and once you know the routine, the thing you are seeing usually points straight at the stage that has stopped working. Here is the whole cycle.
Fill. The module signals a valve at the back of the refrigerator to open for a few seconds, and water travels along a supply line, through the filter, and out of a small fill tube into the mould. Everything about this stage is timed rather than measured: the machine opens the valve for a fixed number of seconds and assumes the right amount arrived. That is why anything restricting flow, a scaled valve, a filter past its interval, a kinked line, produces small or hollow cubes rather than an error. Less water arrived in the same seconds.
Freeze. The mould sits in freezer air and the water freezes solid. A thermostat or sensor in the module watches for the mould reaching the temperature that means the ice is ready. If the freezer is not holding near 0 F, this stage takes far too long or never completes, and the machine simply waits. That is why a warm freezer looks exactly like a dead ice maker from the kitchen.
Harvest. A small heater under the mould warms it very slightly, just enough to release the ice from the metal. This is the stage people never think about, and it is why an ice maker sometimes has a tray of solid ice sitting in it and still delivers nothing.
Eject. A motor turns a set of arms that sweep the cubes out of the mould and into the bin. A failure here gives you the same symptom as a harvest failure: ice visible in the tray, none in the bin.
The arm. A wire bail arm, or on newer designs an optical sensor, tells the machine the bin is full so it stops. It is the least sophisticated part of the whole system and it causes a real share of the calls we take, because an arm knocked upward by somebody reaching past it, or resting on a bag of frozen food that has shifted, tells the machine to stop and the machine obeys.

What Ice Maker Repair Costs Here
Ice maker work is booked and priced inside our refrigeration category, because on most calls the ice maker is part of the refrigerator rather than a separate machine. These are our own completed jobs and every figure is the full ticket: part, labour and the service call together.
| Where | Median repair | Range or middle half | Jobs behind it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Miramar | not published | three repairs: $195, $315, $386 | 6 completed refrigeration calls |
| South Florida service area | $375 | middle half $255 to $453 | 141 with a part replaced |
| Company-wide | $375 | middle half $255 to $473 | 229 with a part replaced |
| Miramar, all appliances | $323 | middle half $260 to $378 | 10 with a part replaced |
| Diagnostic visit | $99 | flat | applied to the repair when you approve it |
We do not publish an ice-maker-only median anywhere, because our standalone ice machine sample is too small to build an honest figure on. The refrigeration category is the right frame, and in Miramar it has produced nothing above $386 across the whole book. Where an ice complaint turns out to be the module, the valve or the arm, expect the lower part of that range rather than the middle.
Match the Symptom to the Likely Cause
| What you see | Which stage | What helps before the visit |
|---|---|---|
| Cubes small or hollow, and getting smaller | Fill: valve, filter or line restricted | Check the filter date and the line behind |
| No ice, freezer not holding near 0 F | Freeze: this is a refrigeration fault | Thermometer in the freezer overnight |
| Solid ice sitting in the tray, none in the bin | Harvest or eject: heater or motor | Note whether the tray is full or part filled |
| Machine stopped entirely, freezer is cold | The arm, or the module | Check the arm is fully down and free to move |
| Water overflowing at the front of the mould | Fill: tube iced, or the valve leaking through | Switch the ice maker off at the arm and call |
| Cubes fused into one block in the bin | Production too slow, so cubes sit and bond | Empty the bin and time how fast it refills |
| Ice tastes or smells wrong | Filter, or old ice absorbing freezer odours | Empty the bin, check the filter date |
| Ice in the bin but none at the door | Delivery, not production: auger or chute | Empty the bin, break up any fused mass |
How Much Ice Is Normal, and How Long It Takes
A good share of the ice calls we take are about production that is slower than the household expects rather than production that has failed, so it is worth knowing what normal looks like. Most household in-freezer modules complete a cycle every hour and a half to two hours, dropping a batch of eight to ten cubes each time, which works out at a few pounds a day. That is not fast. A party, a hot week or a house full of teenagers will empty the bin faster than any domestic ice maker can refill it, and no repair changes that.
So the useful measurement is not how much ice is in the bin, it is how fast the bin refills. Empty it completely, note the time, and look again after four hours. If a couple of batches have arrived, the machine is working and the issue is capacity against demand. If nothing has arrived at all, you have a genuine fault and now you know it rather than suspecting it.
Two things legitimately slow production without anything being broken. A freezer that is well stocked and rarely opened runs colder and more stably than one opened constantly, so a busy household’s ice maker genuinely produces less. And an under-filled freezer holds less cold mass, so it recovers more slowly every time the door opens. Neither is a fault, both are worth knowing before booking a visit.
The other thing to know is patience after any interruption. An ice maker that has been switched off, had its water shut off, or lost power takes a long time to catch up, because it has to refill, refreeze and harvest from a cold start with an empty bin. Give it a full twenty-four hours before deciding it has not recovered. A meaningful number of calls we take in the first day after a power cut or a filter change turn out to be machines that simply had not caught up yet.
Restarting an Ice Maker Properly
Before booking anything, there is a sequence worth running, and it resolves more calls than you might expect.
Check the arm. Look at the wire bail arm on the side of the module. It should be in the down position and free to swing. If it is up, or resting on a bag of frozen food that has shifted, the machine has been told the bin is full and has stopped exactly as designed. On newer designs with an optical sensor rather than an arm, make sure nothing is sitting in the beam path across the bin.
Empty the bin completely. Take it out, tip everything into the sink, and check for a fused mass at the auger. A solid block will jam a dispenser and can damage the auger motor, and it also stops you seeing whether new ice is arriving.
Check the filter date. If it is past its interval, change it, then flush a few litres through the dispenser to clear carbon fines before they reach the fill valve. Then wait, because a filter change interrupts the water path and the machine needs time.
Confirm the freezer temperature. Thermometer, overnight, near 0 F. This is the step people skip and it is the one that most often changes the answer.
Then wait a day. Note the time you finished, leave it alone, and look again after twenty-four hours. If ice has arrived, you are done. If nothing at all has arrived and the freezer is properly cold, that is a genuine fault at the fill, harvest or eject stage, and now you can tell us which stage rather than just saying there is no ice. That single sentence is the difference between a diagnostic visit that starts from scratch and one that starts in the right place.
