Why Ice Fails First on a Well

This goes first because it is the answer to the majority of Brooksville ice complaints, and because it is not what people expect to hear.

The Water Line Somebody Added Later

One more, and it is genuinely seasonal. A crawlspace is not conditioned space. In a hard cold snap a water line running through it is exposed in a way that a line inside a wall is not, and a partially frozen line means no fill, which the machine reports as no ice.

A check that takes two minutes: pull the refrigerator out far enough to see the tubing behind it and look for a tight kink where it turns to enter the machine. Straighten it and leave a gentle loop with slack so the fridge can be moved without pinching it. That single thing resolves a real proportion of dispenser and ice complaints, and it costs nothing.

When No Ice Is Really a Freezer Problem

An important diagnostic branch, because it sends the repair somewhere else entirely.

An ice maker only cycles when the mould gets cold enough. On most refrigerators a thermostat or sensor on the ice maker itself watches the mould and triggers the harvest when it reaches temperature. The related and very common one is a frozen fill tube.
