Appliance Repair in Boca del Mar, FL
Same-day appliance repair across Boca del Mar, ZIP codes 33433 and 33434, in central and west Boca Raton either side of Palmetto Park Road.
Boca del Mar is a master-planned community of more than ninety subdivisions spread across upwards of 2,300 acres, and it was built out decades ago. That means almost every kitchen and laundry here is on its second or third generation of appliances, each one chosen and fitted by a different person at a different time. The commonest fault we find is not a broken part at all: it is a machine that does not fit the space it was put into, so it cannot shed heat, cannot get air, or has its own hose crushed behind it. Those look exactly like expensive failures and they are a tape measure. Most Boca del Mar repairs run $110 to $400, and the $99 diagnostic is waived when you approve the repair. Call (561) 821-9082.
- Diagnostic: $99, waived when you approve the repair. Most repairs $110 to $400.

- Coverage: ZIP codes 33433 and 33434, condominiums, villas, townhouses and single-family homes alike.
- Free first check: whether the appliance has the clearance its manufacturer asks for. It frequently does not.
- Ninety-plus subdivisions means dozens of original layouts, so we measure rather than assume.
- Before you buy: take three dimensions and the manufacturer’s clearance figures with you.

Ninety Subdivisions, Three Generations of Appliances
Boca del Mar is a master-planned residential community in central Boca Raton, sitting on more than 2,300 acres just west of the interstate around the Palmetto Park Road exit, and it contains upwards of ninety separate subdivisions: condominiums, townhouses, villas, single-family homes, apartments and assisted living.
That scale and that variety are the whole story for appliance work here, for a reason that is not obvious.
Each of those subdivisions was designed with a kitchen and a laundry of a particular size, for the appliances available when it was built. Since then every one of those spaces has been filled two or three times over, by owners buying whatever was on the showroom floor in the year their old machine died, fitted by whoever delivered it.
Appliances have not stayed the same size while that was happening. Refrigerators have got substantially deeper and taller. Washing machines have grown in capacity and therefore in depth. Over-the-range microwaves replaced separate hoods and changed the clearance above a range. Dishwasher heights crept up. None of that is dramatic on its own, and cumulatively it means a modern appliance frequently goes into a space designed for something smaller, and goes in only just.
“Only just” is the problem. Appliances need clearance to work, not merely to fit, and a machine with no gap behind it is not installed, it is wedged.
The Six Ways a Good Appliance Is Ruined by Its Installation
These come up so often here that we check them before anything else, on every call.
A refrigerator hard against the back wall. Manufacturers specify a gap, usually around an inch at the back and an inch or more above, so that heat rejected by the condenser can rise away instead of being drawn back in. A deep modern box in a shallow alcove has neither. The compressor then runs almost continuously, which is also what a failing compressor looks like at $450 to $1,100.
An inlet hose crushed behind a washer. A full-size machine in a shallow closet is pushed back until the doors shut, and the hoses go with it. A hose kinked hard against a wall restricts flow, work-hardens at the bend, and eventually splits, which in a stacked building is a claim rather than a repair.
A dryer duct flattened by the machine. The same shallow closet, and the flexible duct behind the dryer gets crushed into a fraction of its cross-section. The dryer then takes two cycles, everybody blames the heating element, and the fault is a squashed pipe.
An over-the-range microwave too close to the cooktop. These replaced separate hoods across a whole generation of kitchens, and there is a minimum height above the burners for a reason. Too low and the microwave’s own underside cooks, its controls fail early, and the range’s rear controls run hot.
A dishwasher that will not clear the counter. Where a floor has been tiled over the original, the clear height under the counter shrinks by the thickness of the tile and its bed. A modern machine that is marginally taller then does not go in without the feet wound fully down, which affects how it sits and how the door seals.
A range wedged between cabinets. Forced into an opening slightly too narrow, it cannot be drawn out for service without removing something, and the anti-tip bracket often was not fitted because there was no room.
Counter-Depth, and the Question to Ask Before Buying
The single most useful thing we can tell anybody in Boca del Mar is to take three measurements before buying a refrigerator, and to know what counter-depth means.
A standard refrigerator is around 30 to 36 inches deep including doors and handles, which projects well past a 24-inch base cabinet. In a kitchen designed for a 1980s appliance the alcove is often shallower than a modern box needs, and the result is either a refrigerator sticking out into a walkway or one pushed back so hard it has no ventilation gap at all.
Counter-depth models exist precisely for this. They are built shallower, so the cabinet sits roughly flush with the counter and the doors stand proud, and they solve the problem outright. The trade is interior volume: a counter-depth appliance holds less than a standard one of the same width.
The three measurements are the width of the alcove, the depth from the back wall to the front edge of the counter, and the height under any cabinet above. Then take the manufacturer’s clearance requirements and subtract them, because those numbers are part of the appliance’s dimensions rather than a suggestion.
One more, easily missed: door swing. In a galley kitchen or against a side wall, a refrigerator door may not open far enough for the drawers to come out, which is discovered on delivery day rather than in the showroom.
Associations, Access and the Neighbour Below
A great deal of Boca del Mar is condominium, townhouse and villa, and that adds a layer worth knowing before booking anything.
Some associations set working hours for contractors, ask for a certificate of insurance, or want notice before work in a unit. It is all routine and it all takes arranging, so tell us the community when you call and we will deal with the management office rather than losing the slot at the door.
The more important point is water. In an attached or stacked home, a washing machine hose, a dishwasher supply or an ice maker line that fails does not stop at your floor. It reaches a neighbour, and that turns a repair into a claim.
Two habits deal with nearly all of it. Replace original rubber washing machine hoses with braided stainless, since they fail at the crimped coupling and usually weep before they burst. And close the water to the washer and the ice maker whenever the home will be empty for more than a few days, which in a community with a large seasonal population is a good part of the year.
The Electrical Side of a Kitchen Fitted Three Times Over
The other thing that comes with three generations of appliances in a space designed once is what is behind them, and it is worth a section because it produces faults people spend money chasing in the wrong place.
Receptacle types changed. An electric range or dryer runs on a 240-volt circuit, and the standard receptacle for both changed decades ago from a three-wire arrangement to a four-wire one. Plenty of homes here still have the older type, which is entirely legal to keep using, and it means a new appliance needs the matching cord fitted rather than the one it came with. When an appliance arrives and does not work, this is a common and completely undramatic reason.
One leg of a 240-volt supply can be lost. Both ranges and dryers take two legs of the breaker. Lose one and the appliance is half alive: a dryer tumbles but stays cold, an electric range keeps its clock and its cooktop but the oven will not heat. That looks exactly like a dead element and it is a supply problem, so we measure before fitting anything.
Kitchen circuits get crowded. A microwave that replaced a hood, a new dishwasher and a disposal added later may all have been put onto whatever circuits were nearby. The tell is a breaker that trips when two of them run together rather than when any one of them runs alone, which is a load question rather than an appliance fault.
Older two-prong outlets still exist in some laundries and utility corners that were never rewired. A washing machine is a metal appliance full of water and grounding is not optional on it, so that is worth raising with an electrician regardless of whether the machine currently works.

Match the Symptom to the Likely Cause
| What you notice | What it usually is here |
|---|---|
| Refrigerator runs constantly since it was replaced | No clearance in a shallow alcove. A tape measure, not a compressor |
| Dryer needs two cycles and the closet is tight | The duct crushed behind the machine |
| Washer fills slowly and the closet is shallow | An inlet hose kinked hard against the back wall |
| Microwave controls failing early above a range | Mounted below the minimum height, so its underside cooks |
| Dishwasher door will not seal since the floor was tiled | Lost clear height under the counter, so the machine sits wrong |
| Refrigerator drawers will not come out | Door swing blocked by a wall or a cabinet return |
| Range cannot be pulled out for service | Forced into an opening slightly too narrow |
| Warm fridge with a cold freezer | Evaporator fan, defrost system or damper. The cooling works, the delivery does not |
| Oven dead straight after a self-clean cycle | Thermal fuse or control board cooked by the cycle |
| Water appearing in a neighbour’s home | Shut the supply now. In attached housing this escalates fast |

Getting More Years Out of Appliances Here
Give every appliance the clearance its manufacturer asks for. In this housing stock that one habit prevents more expensive misdiagnoses than everything else combined.
Measure before you buy, in three dimensions, and subtract the clearance figures rather than treating them as optional.
Look behind a washer and a dryer once a year for a crushed hose or a flattened duct, because both develop silently after the machine is pushed back.
Clean refrigerator condenser coils twice a year and dryer vents annually.
Change original rubber washing machine hoses for braided stainless, and close the water to the washer and ice maker whenever the home is empty.
And keep the model numbers written down. With ninety-plus subdivisions and three generations of appliances, the exact model is what turns a parts question into a same-day answer.
A related habit worth adopting when anything is replaced: photograph the space before the old appliance goes and after the new one is in. Delivery crews are working to a schedule and their job is to get the machine in and running, not to check that it has the ventilation gap its manual specifies, and once a cabinet door is shut nobody looks again for a decade. Two photographs and one measurement at the moment of installation is the cheapest preventive maintenance available in this housing stock, and it settles the question later of whether an appliance that has always struggled was ever installed properly.
